I admit, this song does sound a little generic, but listen closely to the bass guitar and how he just keeps tempo with the song. I love the lyrics to this song because it’s pretty much my entire life.

Gerry Rafferty had problems with alcoholism for most of his life and it certainly threw a wrench into his life. It’s what eventually killed him. You can see in this video how he acknowledges his wife, Carla, in this music video, as a kind of a nod to her to atone for his mistakes.
